Defenders of the Dictionary is a cooperative mission-based board game that reimagines classic word games.

Work together to build words and navigate the city of Wordopolis to capture the villains threatening our language.

Word Play Reimagined
Contribute letters, not words. A team effort keeps word-building accessible across wide ranges of age, spelling proficiency, and vocabulary.
Pursue The Villains
Each imaginative villain twists language in their own way, forcing your team to adapt and rethink strategies. Every encounter feels fresh, clever, and delightfully mischievous.

Scenarios Across Wordopolis
Explore a vibrant city filled with hard-to-reach locations, unique objectives, and replayable missions. Discover new challenges, uncover clues, and piece together the mystery behind the master villain one scenario at a time.
Familiar Ideas Evolved
Inspired by classic word-building gameplay that you know and love, each mission introduces new game mechanisms or combines them to keep your team challenged. Families, dedicated gamer groups, and expert word-builders all find their footing here, and since it’s cooperative, your group will naturally gravitate toward what you enjoy most. Progress through the scenarios to unpuzzle the master villain, complete all of the optional achievements, or bounce around a la carte chasing your favorite villains.
Placement > Points
While points matter, the placement of words and navigation of the city is what often takes priority. Score your team’s points at the end, but only if you’ve covered the “Points of Interest” required to pass the mission.

Finally, A Word Game Everyone Can Win
Tired of getting demolished at Scrabble? So were we. Defenders turns the table into a conversation — your word nerds, your gamers, your kiddos, and your mom are all in it together.
The Dictionary Needs You
Language, as we know it, continues to change. As evidence, Merriam-Webster added 690 words to the dictionary in September 2023 alone! This symbolizes a healthy language that continues to expand with new ideas and culture. Language is awesome!
Will you help defend the dictionary and stop the villains of Wordopolis from messing with our beautiful language?
